The Wicca-The Modern Rebirth of Witchcraft

The religion that I respect other than Hinduism is Wicca. The Wicca is the religion is a special type of Lunar-cult, essentially it can be understood as Lunar religion in its purest form. Wicca is a Lunar-cult that is centered on magic. I came to know about Wicca in the year 2008. I have learned about The Wicca in www.magicka-school.com. My inspiration was The Magicka School . (please check this link about them http://www.magicka-school.com/).

Wicca: The Modern Rebirth of Witchcraft

Before we start exploring the world of Wicca, we have to emphasize that the word "Wicca" has two meanings.
1. Wicca – pronounciation:  "Witcha" - meaning: "Wizard" /”Male Witch” in Old English
2. Wicca – pronounciation: "Wicca " – meaning: The word is used since the 1970’s to describe the the modern Witch - cult recreated by Gerald Gardner. Gardner himself called the religion simply as "Witchcraft", he used the term the Wicca to describe the followers, not the cult itself.

Wicca is the first, and most important modern Witch-cult. Its creator was a highly
intelligent English gentleman, Gerald Brosseau Gardner, who gave life to Wicca at the
end of the 1930’s.

Gardner’s life and personality was very versatile. He has spent most of his life in Asia, he was fascinated by ancient traditions, belief in magic and witchcraft. When he became older, he joined various magical organizations in England, most notably the Rosicrucian Order, the Ordo Templi
Orientis (O.T.O. – Order of the Oriental Templars). He knew the western systems of magic, and grimoires (magical books) from the Middle Ages very well, and he knew about the
theories regarding the Pagan origins of Witchcraft. He has also read Leland’s book, the Aradia which we referred to in the section about Stregheria. Gardner met a couple of people on one of the events organized by the Rosicrucian Order, who
claimed to be Witches, Witches and belonging to a working coven. They told Gardner that they "recognize him from a past life" to be  "of the Blood", Blood so they took him into their coven, and initiated him. This is where Gardner learned about the surviving traditions and magical practices of Witchcraft. He had to realize however, that the Craft practiced in the New Forest Coven (the coven that admitted Gardner)
was very much degraded by the times of persecution in the Middle Ages, and by the time Gardner became a member, it was just a collection of folk magic, and superstitious beliefs rather than a proper Witch-cult. Gardner realized his mission in recreating Witchcraft, to give it a system believers can
base their worship on. He created a Witch-cult that is not the same that it was before the Burning Times, but which can become a new chapter in the thousands of years old history of Witchcraft. He wrote down the rituals and practices of his coven, he used materials from the Aradia, different grimoires, known classical Mystery - cults, and his knowledge about the history of religion. The result is a modern Witch-cult, that is based upon age-old practices and faith: Wicca.
